Landscape Architecture Coursework
- The first Department of Landscape Architecture established in South Korea, this coursework awards a dual degree in landscape architecture in coordination with the College of Design at Iowa State University (U.S.).
- The curriculum of this coursework is composed of theory and practice sections related to landscape design, environment design, landscape planning, landscape architecture, environmental ecology, botany, and landscape construction.
Forest Resource Coursework
- This coursework provides education oriented towards becoming forest specialists in CAD- and GIS-assisted forest resource cultivation and preservation/management technologies, forest interpretation, forest environmental education, etc. and creates forest products processing engineers for timber utilization.

- PRACTICAL ENGLISH
- The aim of the course is to help students develop basic English verbal skills in real life situations. The course will be co-taught by Korean and Native English instructors. Korean instructors will provide students with basic English structure, vocabulary, and expressions, and students will be encouraged to practice speaking English utilizing basic English structures. Students will further practice expressing themselves in English with native English instructors.
- SEMINAR FOR ACADEMIC LIFE
- 1. Summary of the course This course is to assist university freshmen in CRM designing to adapt university life well through the instruction and counselling of supervising professor. (This course is composed of self analysis, personality type test, career research, instruction for the success of university life, career plan and direction setting, CRM designing method and CRM designing. The course should be teaching in classes of the students by supervising professor.) 2. Course objectives This course is to motivate the students before the mid term exam and provide students with self analysis, personality type test (MBTI or TCI) and career research (YAT test). Also, this course shall has a plan to instruct the students to enhance the efficiency of university life through career and time management. In addition, this course is to make a chance for the students to have practical assistance to university life by providing study method, report designing strategy and the information on academic system and various kinds of internal programs of the university. After the mid term exam, the students will be instructed to set the direction of career designing through continuous counselling of supervising professor and the students will be able to establish CRM designing and execution plan.

- UNDERSTANDING OF PSYCHOLOGY
- The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the scientific understanding of human behavior and mind. Topics will include the biological basis of behavior, learning and memory, social behavior, human development, and individual differences. Throughout the course, we will examine both the basic concepts and major findings of contemporary psychology. This course is designed to help students both understand their own thinking and behavior.
- LANDSCAPE DRAWING AND GRAPHIC TECHNIQUES
- This course deals with visual communication techniques necessary to precise and effective rendering of concepts, data and information in landscape drawing and presentation. It cultivates students' presentation abilities through teaching basic knowledges of visual languages and rendering techniques in landscape architecture. This studio course deals with diverse landscape design presentation and communication techniques. It cultivates keen analytic eyes and 3 dimensional perceptions by practicing various visual media production techniques such as image sketches, perspectives, models, photoshop, panel layout and portfolio.
- LANDSCAPE PLANNING
- This course identifies the nature of landscape explores an effective and efficient planning methodology. Theories and methods of landscape planing are dealt with and applied to a case study. It defines functions and roles of landscape as resources and introduces an effective and efficient landscape planning methodology. Based on this, it deals with a project of metropolitan landscape planning.
- COMMUNICATION SKILL
- The ability to communicate effectively in speaking and writing is one of the most important skills for educational and career success. This course gives students opportunities to discuss, practice, and eventually master the skills involved in oral and written communication. The topics include theory and practice of effective communication, making speeches, presentation skills, principles of persuasion, and writing skills.
- SOFTWARE AND AI
- Software and AI (Artificial Intelligence) course aims to educate the basic concepts of software and computational thinking to use them in various applications. It allows students of various majors to experience the core technologies of the 4th industrial revolution, such as big data, machine learning, and AI. It also introduces various applications of AI so that students can easily apply these technologies to their field of study. This course classifies the lecture types into three categories, and adjust the lecture difficulty according to the student's academic ability.
- SPECIALIZED ACADEMIC ENGLISH
- The aim of the course is to help students increase their fluency and accuracy in English. The course will be co-taught by Korean and Native English instructors. Korean instructors will provide students with an opportunity to practice English structure, vocabulary, and expressions, and students will be encouraged to enhance their verbal skills by actively participating in classroom activities. Students will further practice expressing themselves in English with native English instructors.
- BASIC LANDSCAPE PLANTS AND PRACTICE
- Landscape trees are a major material for landscape architecture and a tool that can be differentiated from other construction fields such as civil engineering and architecture. In this class, we will check various theories and actual cases that help students to become interested in landscape trees so that they can grow as landscape experts in the future. Before landscape trees and practice, this course aims to learn basic theories such as understanding plant structure, changes in plants according to seasonal changes, and identifying trees in winter, and characteristics of plants that can only be found in autumn and winter seasons.

- COMMUNITY AND SITE PLANNING
- This course covers the survey methods based on site levels providing information for Iandform, geology, climate and vegetation for landscape planning, design, constrution and management. Furthermore this deals with basic principles of surveying with practice for mapping.
- OPEN SPACE & PARK PLANNING
- This course discusses processes, methods and techniques of planning of open space as a realm of landscape architecture. It deals with conception of open space, open space system and its components and process and methods of planing and design a park as a major component of open space.
- HISTORY OF ORIENTAL LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
- This course examines historical changes in oriental landscaping in contrast to western landscaping with special reference to characteristics, historical meaning and influence of each landscape style. It deals with development of traditional Korean, Chinese and Japanese landscape styles associated with natural environment, historical background and inter-state influences according to given cultural historical chronicles
- HISTORY OF WESTERN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
- This lecture aims at broadening of students' understanding of changes in landscape architectural chronicle based on characteristics, design meanings and influences of landscape styles. It examines landscaping styles of ancient west Asian and Islamic civilization, Greek and Roman civilization. It also deal with history of landscape architecture of Renaissance era, England, and modern American landscape architecture.
- PLANTING DESIGN
- An introduction to planting design issues for the understanding of composition and design characteristics of plant materials for selection, climate, topography, geology and soil. Also the application of aesthetic, functional, and horticultural principles to the composition of the planted landscape and the development of planting plans based on the color, form, texture and seasonal changes of plant materials based on the ecological, functional and aesthetic design principles will be discussed.

- THEORIES OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE MATERIAL
- This course deals with sustainable development issues and landscape architecture, evolved as an expression of people, time and place. Sustainable development issues in the era of global warming, resources exhaustion, and food and water shortage will be discussed. - GIS AND SPATIAL ANALYSIS
- All landscape architecture fields, such as landscape planning, landscape design, and environmental planning, focus on space. Therefore, various spatial analysis capabilities are required, from basic spatial concepts such as location, elevation, slope, and aspect to advanced spatial analysis such as accessibility, site analysis, and network analysis. - LANDSCAPE DESIGN STUDIO(1)

- LANDSCAPE ECOLOGY
- Landscape ecology is the study of spatial variation in landscapes at a variety of scales. It includes the biophysical and societal causes and consequences of landscape heterogeneity. Above all, it is broadly interdisciplinary. The conceptual and theoretical core of landscape ecology links natural sciences with related human disciplines. - A general introduction to the theories and major concepts in the field of environmental ecology for the understanding the relationships of the natural and man-made ecosystems with development. - LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE DESIGN DETAIL
- Focusing on the landscape architecture competition. The course is the study of methods and practical skills for a desirable landscape detail design. The main objectives of this subject are to understand the site condition and the actual social use condition and to study various landscape.
- LANDSCAPE ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION
- Landscape engineering and construction is a scientific and technological knowledge that is the theoretical basis for landscape design and construction, and is essential for research and practice. In this course, we will learn the basic theory such as topographic analysis, statics, surveying and stationary design, structural design such as road design, drainage design, planting work, earthworks, pavement works, and other construction methods. In addition, we will study important issues in construction field such as safety management of children parks and greening of artificial surface.
- LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE AND MANAGEMENT
- The primary goal of this subject is to study the conceptions for a desirable maintenance and management of the landscaping facilities. The theory and practices for the management and maintenance of landscape management, management of plants materials such as pest control, aged and big trees, lawns, and wild plants, and the management of landscaping to enhance the values for the convenience and recreational facilities will be studied.
- LOGIC AND LOGICAL WRITING IN AGRICULTURE
- The purpose of this course is to help students majoring in various fields in agriculture to improve their abilities for logical thinking and logical problem-solving, and to further strengthen the ability for them to write in a logical and critical manner.
- TOURISM PLANNING
- This course discuss theory and mechanisms of tourism planning and methodology. Major topics include tourism demand and supply analysis, land suitability analysis methods, carrying capacity analysis of tourism site, analysis of tourism resources, tourism plan-making process, and management of tourism area. This course required both understanding of theory and submitting class assignments.
- GARDEN DESIGN
- This course teaches theories and techniques of designing house gardens and small exterior spaces which are a basic unit in landscape planning and design. Through a project design, it explores design methods and techniques in landscape gardening and cultivates basic skills and knowledges of garden design.
- ENVIRONMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY
- This deals with complex and interactive relationships between physical environment and human psychological processes of perception, cognition, attitude and behavior. Applying theories of environmental psychology to major categories of physical environment, cultivates abilities of rational environmental planing and design. Scopes of physical environment and problem areas are learning and working environment, environmental stress, congestion, privacy, territoriality and personal space.
- INTRODUCTION TO STATISTICAL ANALYSIS FOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
- This class conveys the basic knowledge of statistics needed in studies for landscape architecture, introduces how to organize data on the humanities and natural environments, and utilize various analysis methods. - This course deals with description, analysis and evaluation of diverse landscape phenomena in nature and urban environment. It examines methodology of composing visual landscape for specific themes in which human design intentions are represented. - METHOD & RESEARCH OF AGRONOMY TEACHING MATERIALS

- LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE PRACTICE
- In this class, we will learn how to prepare detailed construction drawings and estimates costs through detailed drawings, which are essential in landscape architecture practice. In landscape construction, detailed construction drawings such as parking lot, block pavement, rest facility installation, exercise equipment installation, planting plan, etc., and basic data for construction cost calculation such as quantity calculation and statement are considered and process management practice is conducted.
- RURAL PLANNING
- Rural planning is the study of rural spatial planning at a variety of scales. Its specific objective of the subject is to provide a detailed knowledge of rural concept and scope, survey methods of rural amenity resources, rural landscape planning, and green tourism planning.
- SEMINAR ON LANDSCAPE DESIGN
- The program is an intensive course of landscape architecture design, which supports its goal of an advanced educational setting for the graduation design and contest exhibits.
