Cooperation in developing and operating educational programs for 2nd and 3rd generation overseas Koreans 

Expectations for diverse international exchanges through utilization of human resources and networks of both organizations

YU (President CHOI Oe-chool) and World Korean Federation of Sports Associations (Chairman JEONG Ju-hyeon) signed a business agreement for international exchange and education program development at 7 p.m. on the 20th in the conference room on the 3rd floor of the main building of YU.


 With this agreement, the two organizations agreed to join forces to ▲develop and operate educational programs for second- and third-generation overseas Koreans ▲support international exchanges using the human resources and networks of both organizations ▲information exchange and cooperation between both organizations, etc.


 Chairman JEONG Ju-hyeon of World Korean Federation of Sports Associations said, “Education that enhances the correct understanding and pride in the history and culture of the Republic of Korea is absolutely necessary for overseas Koreans. We look forward to the development and operation of educational programs, and hope that various international exchanges will be activated based on mutual trust and use of the know-how and networks of both organizations.


 President CHOI Oe-chool of YU said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the World Federation of Korean Sports Associations for their dedication and efforts for the development of sports and cultural exchange in Korea. I believe that the status of the Republic of Korea today is due to the dedication of overseas compatriots in the development process of Korea. I hope that the program based on YU’s educational know-how, which is sharing Korea’s development experience with developing countries around the world, provides an opportunity for overseas Korean children to properly understand the dedication of their grandparents and parents’ generation, and the identity and history of the Republic of Korea.


 At the agreement ceremony, President CHOI and Chairman JEONG decided to establish a plan to actively cooperate and run athlet events and educational programs to meet the participation schedule of 2024 National Sports Festival in order to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the opening of YU next year and the first exchange event with World Korean Federation of Sports Associations. 


 Meanwhile, World Korean Federation of Sports Associations was founded in 2011 and is an organization of overseas Koreans consisting of 18 member countries and 3 associate members. It plays a role in supporting the participation of overseas Korean athletes in the National Sports Festival, exchanges with overseas Korean sports organizations, and sports and cultural exchanges with their home country. Chairman JEONG Ju-hyeon, who took office as the 6th chairman of World Korean Federation of Sports Associations in May, is the representative of JUST PANMACO. INC and served as president of Los Angeles Korean Chamber of Commerce, president of the Korean American Chamber of Commerce, and president of the Korean American Sports Association.
